Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to Freelancing for Good (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By using our freelance directory, job board, community, coaching programmes, and related services (“Services”), you (“User,” “Freelancer,” “Client,” or “Employer”) agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before registering or making a purchase.

2. Eligibility

To use our Services, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

3. Our Services

Freelancing for Good provides the following:

  • Free community — a Slack community, job board access, newsletter, and community events. No payment required.
  • Pro Directory — a paid membership allowing freelancers to create a profile and be discovered by organisations. Pricing: £35/month, £350/year, or £750 lifetime.
  • Job board — curated job listings posted by organisations. Free to browse. Featured listings are available for £95 per post.
  • Speak Up Coaching Pods — an 8-week small-group coaching programme for £200 (one-off payment), run in collaboration with Speak Up For Good.
  • AI Brief Creator — a free tool for organisations to describe their project and receive AI-generated freelancer recommendations and a project brief.
  • The Giving Pledge — a giving framework in partnership with Giving What We Can. No payment to FFG is required.
  • Freelance Frontier — an intensive mastermind programme (£2,200/year). Currently accepting expressions of interest.

4. Account registration & profiles

  • Freelancers must create an account to be listed in the Pro Directory.
  • Employers may post job listings on the job board.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • We reserve the right to remove or modify any profile or listing that violates these Terms or contains inaccurate information.

5. Vetting & standards

We review applications to the Pro Directory to maintain quality and relevance for our organisational partners. Our review is based on fit with the community and partner needs — it is not a judgement on an individual's abilities. If an application is not accepted, it does not reflect negatively on the freelancer's skills or experience.

6. Payments

  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe.
  • Pro Directory listings remain active as long as your subscription is paid and in good standing.
  • Featured job post fees (£95) are non-refundable once the listing has been published.
  • We charge fees because we are an independent, self-funded platform.

7. Refunds

Pro Directory

  • Monthly membership: full refund within 30 days of your initial payment, no questions asked.
  • Annual membership: full refund within 6 months of your initial payment.
  • Lifetime membership: full refund within 6 months of payment. Lifetime access is guaranteed for as long as we operate the directory. If we discontinue the service, we will make reasonable efforts to notify members in advance.

8. Job board & directory listings

  • Freelancers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of their profile information.
  • Employers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of job postings.
  • All job submissions are reviewed before publishing. We aim to review within 1–2 working days.
  • We do not endorse or guarantee the quality of services offered by freelancers or the legitimacy of job postings.
  • We reserve the right to remove any listing that contains misleading or inappropriate content.
  • To request removal of a listing, contact admin@freelancingforgood.com.

9. AI-powered features

  • The AI Brief Creator uses artificial intelligence to generate project briefs and recommend freelancers. Recommendations are suggestions only and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for hiring decisions.
  • AI-generated content may contain errors. Users should verify all information independently.
  • The AI Brief Creator is designed to surface and recommend real freelancers — not to replace freelance work with AI-generated output.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated recommendations.

10. Content & advice

  • Content published on our website (articles, guides, tools) is provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered professional advice.
  • Users should conduct their own research and not solely rely on our content.
  • If you believe any information is inaccurate, contact admin@freelancingforgood.com and we will do our best to correct it.

11. Client & freelancer responsibility

  • Clients and freelancers engage with each other independently. We are not a party to any agreements between them.
  • We do not guarantee any level of engagement, project success, or payment for services rendered.
  • Users should conduct their own due diligence before entering into professional arrangements.

12. Community standards

We encourage a positive and supportive community. Members of our Slack community and attendees of our events are expected to treat others with respect. We reserve the right to remove members who engage in harassment, spam, or behaviour that undermines the community.

13. Termination & account suspension

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
  • Remove fraudulent or misleading profiles or job listings.
  • Refuse service to anyone at our discretion.

14. Privacy

We collect and store personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share user data with third parties for marketing purposes.

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing data@freelancingforgood.com. Payment records will be retained for the period required by law.

15. Limitations of liability

  • We are not responsible for disputes, damages, or losses arising from interactions between freelancers, clients, or employers.
  • Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the relevant service.
  • We are not liable for service interruptions or external breaches beyond our control.
  • AI-generated recommendations are provided “as is” without warranty. We accept no liability for decisions made based on AI recommendations.

16. Intellectual property

  • Your content. You retain ownership of all content you upload to the Services — including profile information, photos, header images, job listings, and project briefs. By uploading content, you grant Freelancing for Good a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute it for the purpose of operating the Services (for example, showing your profile in the Directory or your job in the Job Board).
  • Our content. All other content on the website — including articles, guides, branding, design, and the structure of the Services — is owned by Freelancing for Good or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You may not reproduce or redistribute our content without our written permission, except for normal personal or non-commercial reference use.
  • AI Brief Creator outputs. Project briefs and freelancer recommendations generated by the AI Brief Creator are licensed for use by the requesting organisation in connection with hiring freelancers. Freelancing for Good retains no exclusive rights over the generated text.
  • Trademarks. “Freelancing for Good” and our associated logos and visual marks are our property. You may not use them without our prior written consent, except for fair, accurate, and non-misleading reference to the Services.

17. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim, except that nothing in this clause shall prevent consumers resident in another part of the United Kingdom or the European Union from relying on mandatory protections available to them under local law.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or on our website. The date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last updated.

19. Contact
